We are pleased to announce the winners of the “Good, Bad and the Ugly” photo competition.

Thank you to all the talented photographers who took part, and to everyone who visited the gallery and “liked” their favourites.

We were amazed by both the number and quality of the entries. The photos showed many aspects of what people like and what needs to be improved in Tilehurst.

The judging panel took the number of votes, quality of image and how well the photo met the competition brief into account choosing the winning photos:

Tilehurst – the Good (13 Years and Above)
First place – The long walk by Karen Stark

Second place – Deer by Lydia Harris

Tilehurst – the Good (Under 13)
First place – Golden reflection by Bethany Ellison

Second place – Breakfast by Milli Taylor

Tilehurst – the Bad & the Ugly (13 Years and Above)
First place – Derelicity waiting for demolition by Callum Cromwell

Second place – Hole lot of problems by Lily Rolfe

Tilehurst – the Bad & the Ugly (Under 13)
Outstanding – Naughty dogs by Milli Taylor

Congratulations to all the winners.

We hope to use many of the pictures in the completed Neighbourhood Plan.

We were fortunate to have help from Alok Sharma MP and Minister of State for Housing and Planning judging the photos. We are grateful that he was able to take time from his busy schedule and for his support for our Neighbourhood Plan. Here is what he had to say:

“I was honoured to judge this brilliant competition and the overall standard of the entries was very high indeed. We clearly have a lot of talent in Reading! Congratulations to the winners and runners-up and I hope this becomes an annual competition. My grateful thanks to the fantastic team involved with the Tilehurst Neighbourhood Plan who are doing so much for our community.”

We are looking forward to finding more ways to get your views on Tilehurst as we develop the Plan. Look out for a quiz that was inspired by the competition, coming very soon to this website.
