TILEHURST: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

  1. About the competition
    • 1.1. The competition is entitled “Tilehurst: the good, the bad, and the ugly” and is run by the Tilehurst Neighbourhood Plan steering group on behalf of Tilehurst Parish Council.
    • 1.2. The subject of the competition is Tilehurst Parish, as shown by the map on the home page of this website.
    • 1.3. The aim of the competition is to promote the Tilehurst Neighbourhood Plan and to encourage people in Tilehurst to interact with their local environment.
    • 1.4. The competition is free to enter and is open to everyone.
  2. Dates
    • 2.1. The competition will open for entries on 1st June 2017 and close on 18th September 2017
    • 2.2. The winners will be announced by 30th September
    • 2.3. The organisers reserve the right to extend the competition and publish a new closing date if there have been insufficient entries by the closing date above.
  3. Categories
    • 3.1. There are two categories and two age groups within each category as follows:
      • 3.1.1. Tilehurst: the good. Age up to 13 years.
      • 3.1.2. Tilehurst: the good. Age 13 years and above.
      • 3.1.3. Tilehurst: the bad and the ugly. Age up to 13 years.
      • 3.1.4. Tilehurst: the bad and the ugly. Age 13 years and above.
  4. Prizes
    • 4.1. There will be two prizes in each category. Categories for children aged up to 13 will have a first prize of £50 and a second prize of £25. Categories for adults will have a first prize of £50 and a second prize of £25.
  5. Judging
    • 5.1. A panel of judges will be appointed by the Steering Group to select winners in each category. The winners will not be determined by public voting on the website alone, but the judges will take them into consideration when making their decision.
    • 5.2. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Conditions of entry
    • 6.1. Entries are to be made online in digital format. If anyone wishes to enter in non-digital format, they may post a print copy of their entry to the Tilehurst Parish Council office at the address below, together with their contact details.
    • 6.2. Image entry file size must not exceed 5MB and is recommended to be at least 1200 pixels on the longest length.
    • 6.3. Image entry files must be in jpg, png, or gif format.
    • 6.4. Images must not include watermarks, borders or signatures.
    • 6.5. There is no restriction on the dates when images were taken.
    • 6.6. All images must be either taken from within the Tilehurst Parish Council boundary (please see the map on the home page of this website for details), or have as their main subject features that are within the Tilehurst Parish Council boundary.
    • 6.7. Individuals may submit up to 10 separate entries.
    • 6.8. The entrant must be the original creator of the images and hold the copyright.
    • 6.9. Images must not have been previously published elsewhere.
    • 6.10. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions are obtained from any person or owner of private property featured in an image.
    • 6.11. The entrant is responsible for any claim made by a third party against their submission.
  7. Copyright, permissions and usage
    • 7.1. Entrants remain the copyright holder of any images they submit.
    • 7.2. By entering the competition, the entrants grant permission to Tilehurst Neighbourhood Plan and Tilehurst Parish Council to reproduce the images for promotional purposes, including, but not restricted to, print, websites, social media, press releases and exhibitions.
  8. Data protection
    • 8.1. Entrants are required to provide a name and email address in order to enter the competition. This information will be managed in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998.
    • 8.2. Entrants should note that the email address provided will be the sole method of communicating with them in the event of their winning a prize. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that this address is correct and functional.
  9. Disclaimer
    • 9.1. The information given in the Terms and Conditions is correct at the time of publishing, but Tilehurst Neighbourhood Plan reserves the right to change any of it without notice. By entering the competition, the entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
